"Peeking behind the doors - Choosing the first door"

Time

Approximate time for this session is 3 hours

Objectives

Building a community of ICT-learners.

 

Overview

In the second Session the students begin with collaborative work at the computers og and share their experience from their meeting in between classes. Students then start exploring the different doors in the course and choose the first door. Sometimes during the lesson students write down their thoughts in the problem-solving corner.

Preparation

Use data from first Session to form basegroups and interest-groups.
Make a webpage with information about the base-groups and interest-groups
Have a camera available to take pictures of the groups to put on the webpage

Discussion

First the teacher gathers the students´experiences since the first session in a short discussion.

Review on practice in the first Session

Students take a little time to practice mouse-skills through solitaire or paint and telecommunications through NetMeeting. There they have opportunity to work e.g. in interestgroups or basegroups.

Students open the homepage of the course and start exploring the doors.

Choosing the first door

After having taken some time to explore the content of each door the students are asked to choose the door they want to start with.

 
Homework

Students are informed that their task in between classes will be that the interest-groups meet together at the computer-center they have access to and discuss how they would like to be able to use computers and information Technology when they finish the course, make a list of computer-work they would like to do together in between sessions.
