GEO. Virtual field trips - southern Iceland: Hekla, Katla, Laki, Vatnajökull and the Vestmann Islands.
Virtual field trips to the south of Iceland are covered by a series of web pages originally presented as a project called "The Burden of History". Choosing the link below takes you to an interactive route map from where you can visit such famous active volcanoes as Hekla, Katla, the Laki eruption site, the Vestmann Islands and the subglacial eruption effects on the sands of southeastern Iceland. The web pages were authored during real Hamrahlíð College field trips to these places and also include some student comments and contributions.
The Burden of History will open in a new browser window, enabling you to go back easily to the other field trips. Click on the link!
