What it is and when to use it

On the search pages you can search several information sources and databases by entering keywords in forms provided. These range from general science sources to very specific earth science databases and image searching databases.

You should use the search pages when you need further information, not found in the main links or specialised resources. The search pages can also be useful when you simply don´t know exactly what you need. You can even try entering a simple question as it occurs to you and see what turns up.
